Tuesday June 27th: Free Play
Having had the end tournament and the final drink, there is one last possiblity before the summer break to play volleybal at Van Slag this year: upcoming Tuesday, June 27, the sports hall has been reserved from 18.00-23.00 for a few extra games, so the courts are available for everybody. If many people will show up, we may have to balance a little so that everyone gets a chance to play for a while.
Of course you can get your current team together to play for a while, but we advise all new teams to use this opportunity to test the new composition of the team to see whether it all works out.
So get your (new) teammates together, and enjoy a last night of volleyball before the break! |

Last chance to pick up your lost items on Tuesday!
In the Van Slag cupboard, a number of personal belongings were found, among which bidons, hair clips, gloves and pullies. If you think that something belonging to you may be in there, or are you still searching for you shirt or bidon? Report to the board next Tuesday during the tournament and we will look whether we've got your stuff. Everything that has not been picked up will be put in the lost and found facility of Olympos after the tournament.

Final Tournament June 20th
It would have been a beach tournament, but Olympos snatched the beach court away before our eyes. So for this reason we will have a indoor tournament. This will take place on Tuesday, June 20.
This will be a nice evening of volleyball, whereby the mixes will be approximately at the level that you are usually playing (so the A poule with B, C with D and E mixing with F).
Afterwards, the first yearbook of Van Slag will be presented by the VerSlag committee, and the winners of the Van Slag Awards will be announced. Something that you do not want to miss!
To completely round of this beautiful season, we will welcome you for a drink in the Olympos bar after the tournament. Everybody will get a free consumption! So it is promising to be a very nice final day of a great season. Make sure that you won't miss this event and sign up for the tournament at the subscription page!

Ticket sales second Van Slag Prom started
As you have probably all heard, a Van Slag Prom is on its way again! It will be held on Wednesday, June 14 in the Fortress Vechten. The theme of this special night is "A Midsummernight's dream", which is completely in the spheres of magic, fairies, love and romance....
You may opt for several arrangements, ranging from the complete arrangement including dinner and transportation to the fortress and back from different places in Utrecht, to solely the ticket to the Prom itself. From this point onwards, tickets are for sale each Tuesday in the sports hall, more information will follow soon on this website. Wednesday June 7th: General Assembly
The end of the season is approaching, time for the traditional General Assembly! This meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7 and will start at 19.30. We will provide coffee, tea and cookies if you make sure that you'll be there!
And please do not hestitate to come to the general assembly because you don't speak Dutch. You are more then welcome to join, and translation will be available!

Tuesday June 20th: indoor tournament with drink as final get together
As the Dutch team has to play the Argentinians in the soccer World Cup tournament, the board has decided to move the final tournament once more. Since the Olympos beach courts are already in use for a course on Tuesday, we will have to resort to the usual indoor tournament. However, it will be a very nice tournament with great mixes on approximately your own level (A poule mixing with B, C with D and E with F). After a few great games, the Van Slag yearbook will be presented by the VerSlag committee, and the winners of the Van Slag Awards will be announced!
Afterwards you are all welcome for a drink in the Olympos Sports Café, where everyone will be served a free drink. This will surely be a great night, and we hope that it will keep you going until september, when the new season finally kicks off again! We hope to see you all on the 20th! The Board 2005-2006 |

DATE FINAL TOURNAMENT
Due to a beachvolleyball course organized by Olympos, it will be impossible to have our well-known end tournament on the beach courts on Tuesday, June 20th. Therefore, it has been decided that this happening will take place on June 21 instead, so there will not be volleyball on Tuesday June 20!! So please note this date in your diary and keep an eye on the website, more information will follow soon! |

End Round 4, next week: Tournament 'Volleyball, but differently so'
Time flies by , and before you know it, Round 4 is finished. The games have been incredible tough. A lot of teams faced a decisive final match. The scores and statistics are now online.
A Tournament organized by our ToCo Committee will be held next week and Round 5 will start a week later. The theme of this Easter tournament is 'Volleyball, but differently so', so prepare for a night of unusual volleyball! You can apply for the tournament by filling out a form at www.vanslag.net/toernooi. Don't wait too long, because there is a limited number of registrations.

Can-you-feel-the-Sizzling-Summer-Party!!!
Thursday March 30 the next VanSlag Party will be held. During these freezing days we would like to feel like the Sssizzling Sssummer, which is why we choose the theme of the coming Sssizzling Sssummer!!! You better get your body fit, cause there will be a great limbo-dance competition. There will be a sunny summer atmosphere, at the same location as last time, Chez BeBe, next to the IBB flats. Tickets are €3,50 and will be sold from tuesday March 21 in the sportshall.

Happy New Year ! | Mixtournament | Party! | Round 3
In 2006, a lot of activities will take place. First, our first mixtournament will be held. This is on tuesday the 10th of january. Subscription is not possible anymore! Be on time: the sportshall is open at 18:00 and the first games will start at 18:15.
Thursday the 12th of january will be the day of our second Van Slag party! Tickets will be sold on january 10th.
Round 3 starts on tuesday the 17th. The schedule is already online.

New party coming up!
On january the 12th, we will have our second Van Slag party. Location is the Chez Bebe, at the IBB complex. Tickets are € 3,50 and will be sold from december 20th. Beer only costs € 1,20. We will also have our 'Oliebol' of the year competition. More details will follow soon.

Partytime!!!
The first party of the year will be held very soon, on thursday November 10th from 10pm. Location is Oudegracht 356, entrance down the stairs, next to the water. Theme of the party will be Halloween, so put on your most funny outfit and get some fun, candy and drinks! Tickets will cost € 7,50 including all drinks and will be sold from this tuesday in the sports hall by the party committee.
Be aware: The number of tickets is restricted, so sold = sold!!!
Hopefully we will make it a great halloween party, so get together with your team mates, get some tickets and we will see you on the 10th!!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE - NEW RULES COMING UP
Since there have been some troubles with teams who weren't present to referee the matches at 18:00, we have to take action by adapting the rules. We are thinking of a penalty by reducing the team's score. The final measures will be published at this newspage
Please make sure you are always in time and don't dissapoint the other teams! If you have any questions or suggestions about this problem, please contact the board.
From now on, we are using the referee's chairs, in order to improve the referee's view on the field and to avoid distraction by other accidents around the field.

Experienced Van Slag teams qualify easily for the D-poule
The experienced teams have easily qualified themselves for the D-poule. Both Als 1 Blok and BBVV Block scored the maximum of 10 points. The new team @Win also won all their matches. Surprisingly, the new Team Stella left De Dieseltjes behind. The most exciting match was the draw between The Jeffrey's and Team 007, of which a place in the D-poule was at stake. Because the The Jeffrey's had a more positive scoring balance, they will start in the D-poule. The new teams had a tough evening and even had to accept almost 200 points against them over five matches!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR LATE SUBSCRIBERS
As some of you may have noticed this week, it is no longer possible to subscribe for Van Slag at the Olympos Sports Desk. We have had to take this measure because the association has a halt on recruitment for new members.
However, there is a (large) number of people of whom we know that they still need to subscribe, because they have been placed into teams, so people who have contacted us via emails to the board or via friends, and as such have ended up in teams, or who have had problems with signing up at Olympos on Friday. These people also can no longer subscribe at the Olympos Sports Desk, but they have to subscribe during or after their placement tournament. This goes as follows:
1. You report to the board of Van Slag. You will receive a note with your name, saying that indeed you are allowed to subscribe at Van Slag. When showing this at the Olympos Sports Desk, you can get your Olympos Sports Card with subscription for Van Slag.
2. Upon showing your Sports Card you will receive a subscription form from us with an authorization form. You have to fill this one out, and return it the same night. Only then you have been subscribed!
You can check for yourself whether you have been placed in one of the teams. If you are in there, you can be placed on a waiting list. We can then try to see whether there is a spot available at your level somewhere. If this is your situation, please mail us at board@vanslag.net.

The Blues is the big winner of the first qualification tournament
The qualification for teams with a high skill level has ended. The most succesful team is The Blues. Not only did they score 10 out of 10 possible points, they also scored many many more points than they had to accept. On the second field, Touch Town just missed a place in the A-poule by losing from Puntje Puntje and the A-Team was as unfortunate as Touch Down as they were defeated by Red Alert. All time favorite IJskoud disappointed a bit because their scoring balance wasn't as good as that of The Blues and GoldPlay. Nevertheless they were one of the two teams who won all matches. Geen Stijl can be regarded as runner up . They just didn't make it to the A-poule because the Italians stood in their way. Let's hope next tuesday will be as exiting as this first tournament!

Qualification of teams with high skill level on 20 september
This tuesday, the first qualification games will be played. Each game lasts 15 minutes, the first starting at 18:15. Make sure you are in time! Each team plays against five other teams. A game that is won is rewarded with two points, an equal score with 1 point and a game that's lost will of course not be rewarded with any point. When the buzzer sounds, the rally should be finished. The two best teams of each court will start in the A-poule, the two lowest teams will start in the C-poule and the others of course in the B.

Try-out evenings very succesful
Both try-out evenings proved to be very succesful. Almost all new participants have subscribed! For the first time since many years, the sixth poule (F-poule) is back in our schedule! Many thanks to all who have helped us achieving this great success!

Promotion Uithof great success
As you can see in our photo album, the promotion at the Uithof was a lot of fun, and a great success. Everyone was busy to answer all the questions of the new coming students. Besides the 45 names we already had, we managed to get 110 new names who want to join the Try-Out. |

Olympos: Play off qualifications EC Beach under 23
At Tuesday July 19th, the Beach Volleyball play-offs games for the European Championship under 23 will be taken place at the Olympos Sports Centre. NeVoBo rented the beach fields at Olympos. It would be terrific if these games would be joined by a lot of visitors. So everyone is invited to join these games. The games start at 6.00 pm. |
