It’s about to happen again! The funnest sportsevent of Utrecht and surroundings: the third Glow in the Dark blacklight volleyball tournament is coming back!
Saturday evening, March 24th, you can join in the battle during this unique volleyball tournament. Of course there will be a spectacular party in the Sportcafé at the end of the tournament.
You can register by team only, minimum of six persons. Costs: 3 euro per person.

Van Slag is great! Van Slag is good for you! But: being a member of Van Slag is not for free! You may have noticed the board checking memberships already. Soon we will check in your team as well! To prevent any embarrassing situations for you or your team, please check if everyone in your team:
Not a member? Then you can’t play! If Olympos were to check for sportcards those members who do not have one will get a fine. Each member will have to pay this fine individually, Van Slag will not pay your fine! New players (even if they only join for once) have to get in touch with the board before playing and they have to buy an intro card at the Olympos desk. Just two weeks to go and the next Van Slag Party will take place! It will be the last one the party committee organises together with Stefan at the good ‘ol Werfkelder, and that’s why it’ll be thé ‘’Back to Basement party’’. If you have been a member for a couple of years, you’ll know the most infamous parties were held here.

On Thursday, the 30th of November 2006, the very first Van Slag-party of this season will take place. A good opportunity to find out whether or not your opponent does anything else with his life besides losing. That is why the theme of the party is "Know your Opponent".
The party will be at "De Grote Catacomben" (www.grotecatacomben.nl) from 22.00h to 04.00h and the entrance fee is € 3,50. Starting Tuesday, November the 7th, tickets can be bought in the sports hall. So gather your entire team and join us the 30th. Guests are also welcome!
Round 1 is over, all matches have been played, so it's time for a fresh new Round! We're looking now at all the scores, to make a schedule for Round 2.
And this new schedule is ready & online! So check Round 2 now to see when your team plays again a brand new match.
Get ready for a team picture! Next week we will make a photo-shoot of all teams. Later on you will find them online on our team page. You'll also see them if you click on a team name at the score tables.
Ofcourse you may use your own made photo's. Send them the board, or to our committee the Old Boys Network. We prefer to use two different photos.
The week after we will make photo's of those teams who are free next Tuesday.
Last Thuesday a theft took place in the locker room. The thieves decamped with a purse and a full bag of possessions. This all happened within 10 minutes while the owners where having their shower.
One of the victims, Bram from team Blue Block, could tell us that this is not just an incident at Olympos. Personnel discovered more cases of theft than usual. So be warned. Don't leave your possessions unattended, even if you are having a shower.
Especially for the members of the lower groups, a once-only opportunity to participate in a series of trainings is offered! During six weeks, experienced volleyball players will help you with the principles of your volleybal techniques in setting, passing, service and attack. The trainings will take place between October 16 and November 20 against the small fee of €7,50 for the full six weeks. The training will be offered at two days: Wednesday from 18.30-19.30 and Thursday from 17.00-18.00. For both days, a number of places is still available, so sign up quickly!
Needless to say, the trainings are also open to international members and instructions will be given in English when needed. Sign up by sending an email to
stating your name, preferred day of training and the team you are currently playing in. If you have any further questions, don't hestitate to mail!

October 16 until November 20
Wednesdays from 18.30-19.30 or Thursdays from 17.00-18.00
Costs: €7,50 for 6 weeks
Next week you can expect the best way of proving that you're a member of Van Slag: 32.50 euros (or 65 euros for double-players) less on your bank-account! The orders for the collection of this year's contribution will be sent Monday the 2nd of October. So don't be frightened if you suddenly seem to be less rich than expected.
If your payment won't succeed, then our treasurer Paulien will contact you.
Yesterday the final qualifications took place. Anniek is now busy calculating the final results and the poule positions of every team. Next week on Tuesday we'll start with the real competition! The schedule is now available on our website. You can see this schedule by pressing 'Round 1'. The results will also be available on this page after every played match.
And don't forget to check if your team is appointed to do the referee job! If you don't come up, you'll get penalty points! So you better not forget this ;-)

The tournament will start at 18:00 and will end at 23:00 maximum.
Look at the list of teams to check out if you need to play coming Tuesday. The Qualifications for the low categorie will be played at Tuesday September 26th.

As you can see in our photo album , the promotion at the Uithof was a lot of fun, and a great success. Everyone was busy to answer all the questions of the new coming students.
At Wednesday August 16th, we will promote our association at the Uithof in Utrecht. Same as other seasons, we will give information to new students about our fine association. Everyone is welcome. So if you would like to help us as a volunteer, mail us at![]()
As a current member of Van Slag, you may subscribe without having to compete with newcomers for the new season 2006-2007. This goes for all members, so also for the holders of an Olympos Sports Card in the C category. Contrary to earlier seasons, subscription will be done via an online form.
Only current members and students who have been on the waiting list can use this opportunity. The URL has been sent to all members by email. In case you haven’t received an email, please contact the board.
After July 16, the standard rules for subscription apply: first come, first serve.

Our new members for the board have been elected at our General Assembly! It was not a hard nut to crack to vote for these great players: Anniek van Leeuwen, Bart Surminski, Ellen Raaijmakers, Linda Hofstee, Paulien Huis in 't Veld and Walter Bruins.
