Committees

Van Slag is Utrecht biggest student volleyball club. With over 320 members we need volunteers to organise those events that make Van Slag even more special, such as: parties, tournaments, proms and yearbooks and we need volunteers to keep the website and forum up and running. In other words: Van Slag needs you!

But don't be afraid: joining a committee isn't a lifelong commitment and it certainly is worth your while! You'll get to know (even) more people at Van Slag and you'll have the satisfaction of seeing all those happy faces as a result of YOUR work. In other words: don't be afraid to join! Also, don't be afraid to contact us: getting in touch for information doesn't result in any obligations, so feel free to ask and show us you're interested, even or especially when you're not 100% sure yet.

Within the board Abel Gilsing is the activity co-ordinator. Please feel free to send him an e-mail or contact the board.

We'd love to hear from you!

Party Committee

Van Slag is not only well-known for its activities in the volleyball field, but also for extra activities outside the field. We've organised many Van Slag parties so far. You can see that these parties are a big success by looking up some of the pictures in our gallery or reading some of the stories on our forum (mostly in Dutch so we invite you to add some English!).
These parties are the ideal opportunity to meet other Van Slag members and to get to know your team members and find out their true party nature!

Prom Committee

Van Slag is still looking for new committee members for our Prom Committee for this season. So far Jasmin Taghavi joined the committee and she is now looking for some fun-loving, prom-loving people to join her! If organising a prom in our beautiful little country sounds like a fitting challenge for you, please contact the board or the committee at the e-mail addresses below. No strings attached! If you're at all interested, send us an e-mail and we'll talk!

Some Van Slag prom history:

In the 2004-2005 season Van Slag organised its first Royal Prom Night in FC Utrecht's Football Stadium Nieuw Galgenwaard. This Princes and Princesses Prom Night was very successful and will be remembered for a long long time. Take a look at the pictures and you'll find out why!

In2005-2006 the location for our famous second prom was Fort Vechten. Take a look at the Prom website and our photo gallery to find out what a big success this prom was!

ToCo

ToCo - Tournament Committee

Van Slag has a long tradition in tournaments. We organise our own tournaments and try to make Van Slag famous throughout the Netherlands by joining other tournaments. The ToCo are responsible for organising our tournaments and for keeping a record of all interesting volleybal tournaments in the Netherlands, such as the HaramBIX-tournament in Enschede and the Jiba Beach Volley Circuit.

Verslag Redaction

Verslag - Van Slag's own newspaper!

Van Slag wishes to publish its own, fun (online) Van Slag magazine but we need your help! The magazine should introduce all Van Slag teams, interview some 'prominent' Van Slag members, include stories about some of the matches and the competition in general etc. It will also include columns and a birthday calendar and many other interesting things we haven't thought of yet.

If you wish to join the editors of Van Slag and share your literary talents please drop us a line at: or

In 2005-2006 Verslag made a beautiful yearbook. Anniek van Leeuwen, Anne Schulze, Linda Hofstee, Rik Ruitenbeek en Teun Zeelenberg really made a little booklet worth remembering!
